Afro-Contemporary Dance Instructor – Sena

Sena Atsugah is a choreographer, teacher, and an art person who obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a Master of Fine Art from the University of Ghana 2008and 2016 respectively. After completion of school she undertook her National service at the Department of Dance Studies, School of Performing Arts, College of Humanities, University of Ghana, Legon from 2008-2009. She became a graduate assistant in the same department from 2013-2017. Over the years she has engaged in numerous dance productions, performances, and workshops with students, researchers, and lecturers from Ghana and beyond.

With her insight into Contemporary African Dance, she took part in many workshops and productions like the maiden edition of a dance workshop dubbed Engagement Feminine,2009 in Burkina Faso. she co-choreographed a Heritage Theatre series named Wogbejeke which was stages at the National Theatre in Accra in the year 2017. She was a co-choreographer for performances commemorating the opening and closing ceremony of West African Football Union (WAFU)games hosted in Cape Coast, Ghana.

Her aim is to become a professor of Dance within academia, whilst engaging in active choreographic works with seasoned artistes. She is currently an Assistant Lecturer with the Department of Dance Studies, School of Performing Arts, College of Humanities, University of Ghana, Legon, who lectures in Intermediary  Dance Technique, African Dance Performance and Traditional Dance. Her academic interest is a pursuit in an interactive Ph.D. programme with particular focus on Dance, Gender and Social Reintegration
